Who Would’ve Thought She’d Get You? Daniel Caesar Drunkenly Asks Why Folks Are Being 'So Mean' To YesJulz

If life is a movie starring Uncle Ruckus, then this is the worst part.

Last night, Daniel Caesar hopped on Instagram Live, zoomed into his frosted tips done by the Vintage Justin Timberlake School of Cosmetology, and swooped in to save... YesJulz?

“Why are we being so mean to Julz?” the 23-year-old singer asked. “Why are we being so mean to white people?”

For those of you playing along on the social media feeds, let’s back up a second and revisit why YesJulz is even at the forefront of the culture’s conversation right now. Because it truly is a round of Russian Roulette when it comes to Twitter Topics du jour.

The Colonizing Cauliflower recently appeared on the “Easily Offended” podcast, addressing the time she posted a pic of a “Niggas lie a lot” t-shirt, asking if she could wear it to a festival. She went on to rant about black women like Scottie Beam and Karen Civil (rightfully) checking her on the fact that actions like that only highlight why her culture vulturous existence is an issue. And she did all of this ranting within the safe space of the same black men who afford her the opportunity to successfully occupy space in our culture.

Naturally, the social media personality got that same energy from the squad of black women who basically uttered in unison, “Bitch, you got us fucked up.”

Of YesJulz, Staff Writer Anne Branigin masterfully concluded, “After listening to her speak for a whole 80 seconds, I’ve decided she doesn’t do cosplay of black women as much as she does a cosplay of misogynistic black men.”

Y’all. Anne nailed it. It makes sense: YesJulz may be attempting to take the place of black women, but she’s definitely mirroring the rhetoric spoken by “Why These Bitches So Mad About The Word, FEE-male” Twitter.

To the surprise of absolutely no one who identifies as a black woman, hoards of black men swooped in to defend YesJulz, desperate to smash her Great Value cakes, which were blatantly stolen from a black woman’s recipe.

So... the latest Snowbunny Superman to add to the list? Daniel Caesar.

Annnnd, we’re back.

“Why is that we’re allowed to be disrespectful and rude to everybody else, and when anybody returns any type of energy to us... that’s not a quality!” Caesar exclaimed. “I don’t want to be treated like I can’t take a joke.”

Well, since we’re on the topic of jokes. This “defense” of YesJulz has to be one, right? Right?!

Whew chillay.

Right on time, Black Twitter was ready for the Oshawa, Ontario (Canada) native.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the term “canceled” to be tossed about. Given the fact I’ve never seen Daniel’s name discussed at this rate...

Shit, I don’t think he’s canceled. I think he’s in sweeps.
