It’s not far-fetched to assume that Cookie Lyon probably grew up in an eccentric household. That’s why it’s exciting news that we’ll get to see a new family member this upcoming season who likely influenced the kind of woman she grew up to be.

According to EW, Cookie (played by Taraji P. Henson) will be joined on-screen by an older sister who will be played by none other than the phenomenal Vivica A. Fox.

Remember that we’ve already met one of Cookie’s sisters, played by actress Tasha Smith. Ilene Chaiken, one of the show’s executive producers, explained to EW that Fox’s addition to the storyline will add more drama to the plot.

“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome, to say the least,” Chaiken said.

According to ET, Empire’s co-creator Lee Daniels said that he is exploring the possibility of a spin-off centered on the lives of Cookie’s family, so the dynamics between Cookie and her family members may take center stage this season in order to set up that spin-off for success.
