Tyrese Gibson, R&B crooner and actor best known for the Fast and the Furious film series, has an open case with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services after his ex-wife claims that he abused their 10-year-old daughter, spanking her so hard she could not sit.

TMZ reports that Tyrese’s ex-wife, Norma Mitchell Gibson, accused the actor of spanking their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla, “between 12 and 16 times,” and that before that, he pushed her to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.

Norma Gibson’s attorney says that DCFS has opened an investigation into the claims, the most recent of which allegedly happened in August, and that there is already a temporary restraining order, which Norma wants to make permanent. Norma is also asking for full physical and legal custody and for Tyrese to take domestic violence classes.

The Jasmine Brand reports that Norma has accused Tyrese of having an untreated mental-health diagnosis and fears that the star will take the little girl to Dubai, according to TMZ.

Tyrese’s lawyer called Norma “a lying piece of shit.” He added, “Tyrese is devastated. He’s a good guy and I will prove that.”

Tyrese took to social media to refute the claims, saying that his ex is not
“over” him and that “God and the courts will reveal the truth.” The post has been since deleted.

Tyrese recently posted a heartwarming photo with Shayla with hashtags like, #ForgiveThemFatherTheyKnowNotWhatTheyDo as well as #ParentingAlienation and #Enmeshment, saying it’s “mind blowing how accurate this all is ... ”

Tyrese and Norma Gibson were married for two years and divorced in 2009. Tyrese is currently married to Samantha Lee Gibson, whom he wed in March.
