The woman in black

An anonymous black woman dressed all in black is currently walking the streets of America with just a suitcase and Bible in tow. No one knows who this woman in black is, but she’s gone viral because folks on various social media are posting about her.

The woman has been seen walking the streets of Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia, and now there’s a Facebook page dedicated to her existence. You can also view videos and photos of the woman on various Instagram pages and Twitter posts by following the #womaninblack hashtag

One video, posted on YouTube June 3, shows the woman giving what sounds like a sermon while standing in a parking lot.

Could the woman in black be on a mission from a higher power?

That’s what some seem to think. Here’s what one Facebook user wrote:

My daughters saw this lady last night at our Walmart here in Chillicothe, Ohio. My daughters, being teenagers were a little 'freaked out' but as they walked into the door she was sitting beside, my daughter said the woman had a sparkle/glow around her. I asked if maybe she had shiny things sewn on her clothes and my daughter said no. My daughter also reported a very peaceful feeling as she walked past this lady. Whatever this lady's mission, she had an effect on my girls last night.

One news agency tried to get a little more information about the woman to uncover her identity. According to WCYB, police in Sullivan County, Tenn., said that the woman who had been seen in the area is from Mott, Ala. Another station reported that the woman told a sheriff she was from an Islamic nation and worked at the Pentagon, but that lead came up false.

Whoever this woman is, she’s getting a lot of attention on social media, even though her motives remain a mystery.
