After many fits and starts and one of the stars saying the project may never see the light of day, it appears that the long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Bad Boys II is finally happening. Are you ready?

The film’s two stars—Will Smith and Martin Lawrence—both posted on their Instagram accounts that the movie is a go.

Lawrence made his post on Wednesday, sharing a photo of himself along with Will Smith on what appears to be Venice Beach in Los Angeles with the caption “It’s official. Bad Boys for Life. #teammartymar #badboysforlife @willsmith#weback

Thursday, Will Smith made a video post of his own on Instagram, from the same location Lawrence posted. He wrote the caption “It’s been a LOOOONG time Coming. But now it’s Here! @BadBoys For Life 🚨 We back!! @martinlawrence.”

“Yo. Yo,” Smith says in the video. “I’m telling y’all. I’m telling y’all. This is crazy. Wait ... wait ... just wait! It’s official!”

“It’s official, baby,” he continues as Lawrence joins in. “It’s official. Bad Boys III! It’s happening! It’s official! It’s official! I’m telling you!”

“That’s it. No more. Y’all can’t handle no more of that,” Smith says to close out the video.

In 2017, Lawrence told EW that he thought the third installment of the popular film series might not happen.

“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out,” he said at the time. “Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

Lawrence then added, “I’m there, I’m ready right now. If they wanted to do it, I’m ready, but I don’t have control of that. That’s the studio’s decision.”

It looks like the studio decided to make that amazing on-screen chemistry between the two happen one more time.

Bad Boys For Life is now set for a January 2020 release date. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Black, Gangsta) will replace director Michael Bay for the film.
