Creed director Ryan Coogler is developing a TV drama focused on juvenile-detention facilities and the kids who grow up in the system. In Minors, Coogler will join forces with director Destin Daniel Cretton and playwright Chinaka Hodge.

According to Variety, the series will draw from the experiences of its creators, including Coogler’s life growing up in the East Bay area of California, Cretton’s experience working in residential foster care and Hodge’s experience working with kids in the Bay Area.

The series will look at the impact that being in a facility can have on a child’s life over a 12-month period.

Hodge will be in charge of the writing team, and Coogler and Cretton will share directing duties.
