Pepsi has decided to pull its newest ad, which should never have been made, featuring Kendall Jenner. The ad, which went live Tuesday, showed Jenner among a crowd of protesters, handing a police officer a can of soda. Because that’s exactly what you do when eye to eye with officers during a protest.
Pepsi issued a half-assed apology about the commercial: “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize.
“We did not intend to make light of any serious issue,” the statement continues. “We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
What exactly is “this position,” though? A 20-year-old who is surrounded by culture vultures knew exactly what she was doing by even taking the job. But a paycheck is a paycheck in the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
Do any black people work in Pepsi’s marketing or advertising department? Those are the people I want to hear from. Because we all know there was a black person sitting there like, “Nah.” And the white co-worker was like, “Yeah! This is edgy!”
