Nicki Minaj and her ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels went at it publicly in social media after their breakup, so we've heard these allegations before.
I'm talking about Samuels' allegations that he wrote some numbers on a few of Minaj's albums. It's a claim that could haunt and taint a lyricist's career forever (just look at Nas, and most recently Drake).
According to TMZ, Samuels is not backing down from these claims and is reportedly planning to sue Minaj for the work he's done on three albums: Pink Friday, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and The Pinkprint. Sources reportedly told TMZ that Samuels has a boatload of evidence to substantiate the lawsuit. He apparently has video footage that shows him working in the studio with Minaj and also tape recordings of sessions.
Minaj has admitted a few times during interviews how extensively she and Samuels collaborated in the studio. Samuels says that the fact that Minaj gave him an executive-producer credit on two albums is proof enough.
This is sad when you think about how long these two were in a relationship: over 10 years. I can't help thinking of a lyric from the great American poet Lauryn Hill: "It's funny how money change a situation."
