It looks as if 2016 has been the same for Nick Cannon as it has been for many of us: a series of emotional ups and downs; some real highs and lows.

On the upside, the 36-year-old has mucho gigs, including executive positions at Teen Nick and Radio Shack and hosting Wild ’N Out and America’s Got Talent. He also recently enrolled as a student at Howard University. Cannon also proclaimed that black lives matter this summer and announced in November that he is expecting his third child with ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell.

Yet 2016 also saw the 36-year-old finalize his divorce with Mariah Carey (he has 5-year-old twins with the singer) and also saw him sticking his foot in his mouthmore than once.

Cannon recently took to social media to say that he will be spending Christmas in the hospital, where he is being treated for lupus, an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy tissue, and one that strikes African Americans at three times the rate of whites.

“For all who have been trying to contact me the last few days this is where I've been,” he wrote in an Instagram post from his hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai. “And I will be in the Hospital through Christmas. All good though, Doctors say I will be back to normal before the New Year.” #LupusSucks #ncredible #warrior

Cannon was previously hospitalized in 2012 when lupus caused his kidneys to become inflamed, leading to mild renal failure.

We wish Cannon best wishes on Christmas and a speedy recovery!
