Everyone is always saying how kids need to read more, but the White House and first lady Michelle Obama are now making sure that happens by making e-books accessible to children and teachers in the U.S.
The app will allow educators, students and administrators at one of the 60,000 Title I schools and 194 Department of Defense Education Activity schools, as well as any special education teacher, access to thousands of free books via their smartphones or tablets.
“For so many of us, books opened our minds to a world of possibility. Unfortunately, right now, millions of children in America don’t have that chance because they don’t have adequate access to the books they need to learn and dream,” the first lady said in a video. “The new Open eBooks app will change that.”
