He got 99 problems, but effective legal representation ain’t one. 21 Savage is currently in ICE custody and it looks like one Shawn Carter is offering up his legal team for assistance.

21 Savage’s legal team recently released an official statement disputing ICE’s major claims, including their client’s criminal record.

Already boasting what looks to be a beefed-up legal team for the young rapper, Jay-Z is adding an alley-oop via his lawyer Alex Spiro, as the 49-year-old rapper believes 21 Savage’s detainment is an “absolute travesty.”

“In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately,” Jay-Z said, according to TMZ.

Spiro told TMZ:

“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge ... What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years - not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”

Most recently, Spiro acted as Jay-Z’s counsel in a trademark dispute with clothing company Iconic Brand Group, Inc. Jay-Z’s legal team was recently granted the choice to use more African American arbitrators relating to his 2007 sale of Rocawear to Iconix for approximately $204 million.

Jay’s helping hand amongst his hip-hop homies isn’t an anomaly either; ask Travis Scott, Lil’ Wayne, or Meek Mill.

One thing that sticks out and speaks to Jay’s character is that 21 Savage isn’t even signed under the Roc Nation umbrella. The 26-year-old rapper is part of the Epic Records/Slaughter Gang family. This is simply Jay doing the damn thing—the right damn thing.
