Janet Jackson took to social media Monday to express her condolences for the late, great Aaliyah.

Jackson tweeted a photo of a brief, handwritten note she wrote. In it she described the "sacred," "everlasting" and "pure" bond that she and Aaliyah shared. A bond that she said "will endure."

She ended it with: "I love you Aaliyah. #RIP."

Both ladies often spoke about how they were very fond of each other's work, and hoped to collaborate.
