Makeup artists are a dime a dozen on Instagram, and whether you want to learn how to contour your nose or “beat your face” to the point where you look like a totally different person, there are plenty of photos to show you how. But there’s one makeup artist on Instagram who took her makeup expertise one step too far, transforming a white woman into a black woman.

But let her tell it, “THIS IS NOT ABOUT A RACE CHANGE. This is about one woman acknowledging, embracing, and celebrating the beauty of another woman’s culture,” paintdatface wrote on Instagram.

As you can tell from the photo above, the after pic is definitely completely different from the before pic, even down to the fuller lips, brown skin and brown eyes. To top it off, the makeup artist used a head wrap on the model.

Of course, the Instagram account belonging to paintdatface eventually went private, and when it returned to being a public profile, the photo was long gone. Nothing ever stays gone on the internet, though.

One of these days, people will learn that blackface, no matter what one’s intentions, is never a good thing.

Bye, Kinja! It's been fun (occasionally).

Or, you know, you could, you know, “acknowledge, embrace, and celebrate the beauty of another woman’s culture” by maybe PHOTOGRAPHING ACTUAL BLACK WOMEN!!! How in the holy fuck can you acknowledge the beauty of women of another culture by using a woman of a completely different culture? The act is in fact a slap in the face to the women of the culture you claim you’re trying to celebrate.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go out and celebrate the loyalty, beauty and history of dogs by getting a cat and dressing it up as a dog.
