During Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent episode, one singer shocked the crowd with his rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

Johnny Manuel, from Flint, Mich., told Simon Cowell that he’s been in the music business for a while, but after he signed with Warner Bros. Records at the age of 14, his career didn’t take off.

“As a kid, I thought that I was going to take off and see the stars,” he told Cowell. “Obviously it didn’t happen that way.”

And after that, magic happened:

Manuel said he hopes that after his performance, his career will get back on the right track, and there’s a good chance that’ll happen.

Bye, Kinja! It's been fun (occasionally).

Lil Johnny was all good. The man can sing.

His “problem” is that he’s not light skinned handsome and/or not thug gimmick enough for these jive ass record labels/producers. Bullshit trumps talent 9 times out 10 and we’re the big losers.
