Hands down, the sure-shot hit of the summer is “Bodak Yellow,” by Bronx, N.Y., rapper Cardi B, now officially in the classroom via the genius of one creative teacher.

Erica Buddington, a self-described arts educator, recently posted a video on Twitter, rapping the “map version” of the hit song as her class goes awf in the background.

Buddington later posted the lyrics, in what she calls an exercise of “meeting the kids where they are.”

She said that the kids in her class knew the words the very next day and that the entire school has now got “longitude.”

Shoutout to Buddington for making a dumb song smart. Y’all know that song don’t make no sense (but I still luuuuh me some Belcalis, who, incidentally, luuuuhs the “map” song).

DISCUSSION

We need more clever teachers having fun with their students like this. This is how you make learning fun and they actually retain information. I bet you each kid knew that lesson backwards and forwards. Kudos to Ms. Buddington.
