Cotton candy hair color. A cute Afro. Skinny ties. And rompers. Those are just a few things that stand out in the newest additions to Mattel’s Fashionista Barbie line. Interestingly enough, all of these dolls look like people I saw during every meal I had in Los Angeles recently.

According to Mattel, the company added “15 new modernized and diverse Ken dolls, featuring three body types—slim, broad and original—seven skin tones, eight hair colors, nine hairstyles and on-trend fashions.”

Slim.

Broad.

Original.

Where’s husky Ken, though? There are some of us who prefer men with a little more meat on their bones. Wait, I mean dolls, not men. Never mind, this is getting weird.

Also, this doll, with his Shemar Moore fake cornrows, has really pink lips:

I’m going to buy all of the Instagram diet teas so I can get as “curvy” as this Barbie:

Afro Barbie is definitely my favorite, but those sneakers gotta go:

Will the new dolls convince more parents to spend money on their kids, or get more parents to spend money on their own pocket-size hipster? With prices ranging from $9.99 to $30, if there’s one thing Mattel has been able to do, it’s keep their dolls somewhat affordable.
